JAMES KASPER.COM WILL BE UPDATED SOON.
In the meanwhile, here's information about the cd release taking place this weekend:
Gods and devils battle it out on Kasper's new CD, small town gods & devils, which he will be releasing on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Fairfield United Church in Victoria. Kasper enjoyed this venue so much for his last release that he is revisiting the “sanctuary," and what better place for gods and devils to reveal themselves?
From the first notes of his new record, you'll hear an edgier, darker, and more raw version of Kasper. At the same time, he brings his consistently vulnerable and dynamic songwriting to this album, along with haunting and innovative harmonica, and rich, intimate vocals. Eric Hogg punctuates the album with his subtle yet progressive production.
This intense performer will be joined by Claire Butterfield (vocals), Brad Hawkes (cajon drum), Eric Hogg (bass, vocals), and Jay Hache (vocals), all of whom appear on the album. Melodia, a 5-member a capella choir made up of recent Oak Bay Secondary grads, will start off the show. Visuals for the show will be performed by acclaimed puppeteer/visual artist Tim Gosley, and an improvisational “soundscape” will be created by David Parfit and Nicholas Vining in between songs.
Tickets are $15 (this includes the CD) and can be purchased at Lyle's Place at 770 Yates Street in Victoria or at the door on July 18.
The Mustard Seed will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items at the door.
